Proposal

I wrote my proposal for Steve Nelson on the OVSD professional development project. I had Carla Wade, Aaron, and Lynn Lary proof it. We will see what happens with that.

Planning

The big highlight this week beyond ITSC (which consumes my days and nights) was the Oregon Cadre leadership team met to plan our February meeting (during ITSC). I think this went well and I was able to use some of the strategies I learned at NSDC like the cafe table discussions.

I tried out a new tool, a sketch pad to write on my computer. Didn't work well at all, I had to return it. I would like he ability to write on my slides when presenting... I will keep looking.

At NSDC the focus of music to set the stage for learning was HUGE. I took notes as to the songs that energized people. So I purchased a few songs to use in PD... tried them out with the leadership team, they LOVED it.

--We had our OETC Christmas luncheon at McCormick and Schmicks. In the white elephant gift exchange I got a decorative bottle that held vegetables for salsa.

NSDC

WOW! What great, energizing and thoughtful staff development. I have not been to the National Staff Development Council's (NSDC) conference in five years, as at that time I was so disappointed at the lack of technology integration. This time there still was a lack of technology anywhere (it cost $1,000 for a wireless connection), but this time I looked past that to the strategies. I gained some new ideas I can use when I provide PD, and I know how to integrate the tech. In fact I think we have a niche here at OETC, especially with the cadre's. I think we should present at NSDC in the future.

Nonetheless, I have come back energized.

Hodge Podge

We said goodbye to Thomas this week. Sad.

I met with Carla to discuss the Oregon Cadre.

Went off to NSDC in Nashville.
