REAL Done
We completed our last deliverable early, but submitted our final invoice to end our work on REAL. In all we did not meet all the specific details of the REAL contract, but because of contract language ambiguity, and confusion, ODE altered the contract so that what we delivered, met their requirements.
I think it was a great learning experience. I worked with primarily three people at ODE as staff shifted and changed, this was a bit difficult. However, everyone at ODE was patient and workable. This project amounted to about one-fifth of my workload this year.

SecondLife
I have spent time researching SecondLife. I have an avatar, JenaFIRE Voom and have become a member of ISTE in SL. I attended an all day conference in SecondLife on how it is being used in education. This was pretty useful to me and engaging. I worked from home that day and my 17 year old sat and participated for an hour mumbling, I wish I had teachers that would utilize some of these tools. There is a lot of discussion and controversy around the concept. I am going to have Kathy Schrock present at ITSC on this. I am not sure I will go much more indepth, but I think it is a representation of the future, and how we will learn virtually. | JenaFIRE Voom |

Glance
Two more SMART Trainings.
NWRESD hosted a moodle training and round table discussion. I went to see the training provided by Paul Nelson. My ah-ha moment came when a teacher asked Paul to help him, he had uploaded this word document to the moodle five times and it never shows up. Paul calmly shows him the yellow text at the top of the Explorer browser that says pop ups are blocked, do you want to allow? This little feature that was hard to see became a time consuming road block for this teacher. That opened my eyes once again, that is where many teachers are and it becomes time consuming.

Back to Back
![]() | It is tough to go back to back with cadre's but off to Eugene I went for our Oregon Cadre. It too was a great success EXCEPT for the Community Walk crash... yup we crashed their server, even though I had email communique' in advance to help prevent it. Community Walk apologized, but we worked through it, people were flexible. The group did excellent hard work. My favorite was our closing activity to review the 13 Principles we have worked on all year, there was song, poetry and lots of laughter. One of those teachable moments. Truly the best meeting yet. The Cadre's Mighty Reach
"I heard the voice of a student who has selective mutisum. I have worked with this student since she came here as a kindergartner. She has come to computer lab once a week for the past five years and never said a word in class. I was brought to tears by something she achieved with technology as a tool. We have been working on producing a spring haiku photostory. Students have written a poem, found photographs to illustrate it, added music, and narrated it. Today SHE wanted to narrate her poem. YES!!!!!! Is technology a tool that can unlock a door? Yes!"
